Ingredient list
Brown lentils, long grain parboiled rice, caramelized dried spiced onions (onions, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, black pepper, salt).
The onions make the mujadara
Mujadara lives or dies by its caramelized onions. We cook ours low and slow, dry them, and seal them inside the kit so they stay fragrant until they go into the pot.
The rice is long-grain, the lentils are Canadian brown — they hold their shape — and the spice blend is the one written on the back of an envelope in my grandmother's handwriting.
